✺ background
Little India is a place with rich culture and heritage.
However for many, as much as its vibrant and colourful, it can be sensually chaotic because of the amount of competing visuals, noise and even its environment. This might have resulted in the recent visitors, especially the younger generation to not fully recognise or be immersed in the culture and heritage it’s known for.
My project aims to refresh the visual identity and also provide a unique cultural experience for our audiences, by applying generative visuals on the neighbourhood’s iconic facade.
✺ Why Signage?
The reason why I chose the iconic signages as the main element of the project is because these vibrant storefronts are a very unique part of this neighbourhood. a place filled with many businesses, from restaurants, convenience stores, jewellery shops, we see signages of different forms, colours, shapes and sizes. visually overwhelming sometimes.
what if we could refresh people’s visual experience with a smart use of technology?
✺ Why Generative Visuals?
As the main objective of my project is to provide a refreshed cultural experience for the target audience, I wanted to create a “more than meets the eye” experience for them beyond the signages. Hence the use of generative visuals. Because they are created by algorithms, it offers a high degree of flexibility and variability on the existing visuals, or signages in my case.
Another reason why generative visuals are used is that they can create unique patterns and forms that would be difficult to create manually. This helps in the result of visually stunning or unexpected results that can capture my target audience’s attention and even imagination. Hence fulfilling my objective.
